OUR MISSION:
The campaign to Reach out for Research Resources has begun! Individuals with Trimethylaminuria (TMAU) are pledging to raise what they can to reach our initial minimum goal of $30,000+ for the NORD TMAU Research Fund.
The dedicated TMAU Research Fund (managed by NORD, the National Association of Rare Disorders) was established by Cheryl Marshall in 2007 to hold donations that will be used exclusively to fund research projects that will benefit our community of sufferers. Cheryl can’t do it alone and we won’t let her go it alone. We’re linking up and reaching out in our RRR campaign. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
What is this campaign all about?
It’s about you and me, us. Ours is the plan of action, of hope, love, support and inspiration. We believe in our ability to effect change, build hope, inspire others to action, and live in love – despite all the challenges we face as sufferers and survivors. Reaching for Research Resources is a fundraising campaign designed to stimulate research resources from the ground up. Not from our own pockets, but from reaching out at the grass roots -- to friends, family and supporters. It starts with us.
How does the RRR campaign work?
An e-letter writing campaign (or letter mailing, if you prefer).
We are reaching out to family, friends and supporters to give what they can: $1, $10, $100, $500.... Every dollar makes a difference! If you wish to join us, we have attached a letter for you to download and personalize

How will the funds be used?
Every last dollar raised will go to the dedicated Trimethylaminuria Research Fund managed by NORD (a national non-profit that manages the fund at no cost). Upon reaching the $35,000.00 level, NORD will issue a general Request For Proposal (RFP) announcement. Scientists are invited to submit research project proposals along with their professional qualifications. NORD’s Medical Advisory Committee reviews the proposals and selects the finalists who are then asked to submit full grant applications from which the MAC selects the award recipient.

Why did I start the NORD Fund?
"All of us living with TMAU have tried all manner of treatment options in an attempt to lesson the symptoms and try to have a "normal " life.... with minimal success. It was the realization that there are no quick fixes and that our answers can only come through research which led me to the creation of the NORD Fund. There are still many unanswered questions about TMAU, and these will only be answered with diligent research."
